Overview

Brink Weaver founded Thorne Associates in 1970, which became Thorne Pneumatic Systems Limited in 1974, selling and servicing pneumatic tube systems for Adanac Air Tube Systems in Montreal. In 1975 the company acquired the sales rights for Lamson vacuum cleaning systems for Canada. In 1980 Thorne developed its own line of pneumatic tube systems, the largest being a fully computerized 32-station pneumatic tube system for Mississauga General Hospital. In 1992 Thorne brought out its own line of heavy-duty industrial vacuum cleaning equipment and accessories.

Over the years Thorne has sold in excess of one thousand systems plus replacement parts and accessories in Canada and the United States. Thorne’s products include pneumatic tube systems, central and portable vacuum cleaning systems and pneumatic conveying systems.

The company’s vision is to establish a manufacturing facility in Canada to take advantage of market opportunities and provide turnkey solutions for its customers.

Thorne proudly refers to three examples, as typical of the projects it has undertaken on behalf of its customers:

  • Ontario Hydro – 6 Central vacuum cleaning systems
  • Apotex Pharmaceuticals – Central vacuum cleaning system
  • Ford Motor Company of Canada – Central vacuum cleaning system
