OverviewPneutrans Systems LimitedPneutrans Systems Limited was formed in 1985 to design, manufacture and sell pneumatic capsule pipelines using similar technology to pneumatic tube systems. Currently, pneumatic tube systems are in use in places like hospitals, retail operations, and between order desks and shipping/receiving offices in industry. These systems handle paper, medications, lab samples, quality control samples and cash. They are generally 2 1/4, 3, 4 or 6 inches in diameter. Larger diameter pneumatic capsule pipeline systems include those used in postal stations and subway systems to transport people. Pneutrans has expanded this technology to enable the mining industry to move ore from the mine to the mill and to move concentrates from the mill to a rail load out or seaport. Pneumatic Capsule PipelinesPneutrans designs and provides systems to transport large quantities of coal, ore, concentrates, aggregates (100,000 to 12 million tons/year) over long distances horizontally, inclined and vertically (1 to over 100 miles) at a very low operating cost and competitive capital costs. Pneumatic Capsule Pipeline Systems are designed to reduce transportation operating costs from 25 cents per ton-mile for trucks to 5 cents per ton-mile. The capital cost of building a pneumatic capsule pipeline is competitive to a railway and a covered conveyor belt system at about 1.3 million dollars per mile, depending on the length of the system. This translates into a capital cost of twelve to eighteen cents per ton-mile.
